Georgios was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in May. The oncology team at Piraeus Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in August. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Georgios is 33, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Piraeus Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $6,100 goes:
• Transport to Piraeus Cancer Centre: $240
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,650
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $360
• Scans and lab work: $850
