Genet was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in July. The surgeon at Adama General Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,050, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $750 short. my wife has been in and out of Adama General Hospital since July. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,050 is more than we can find. While we wait, Genet struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Genet won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
