Garima was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in January. The surgeon at Saint Elizabeth Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $930, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $700 short. my daughter has been in and out of Saint Elizabeth Hospital since January. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $930 is more than we can find. While we wait, Garima struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Garima won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
