Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Friday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 271 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 36% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the București market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $310
• Refrigeration and electricity: $115
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $225
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near București
Thank you. If you're in București I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Appreciate you taking the time.
Best of luck. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
