After severe cataracts in both eyes, Folake was cleared for emergency hernia repair, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Folake was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in October. The surgeon at Ikeja University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,500, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,200 short. my daughter has been in and out of Ikeja University Hospital since October. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Folake struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Folake won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,200 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $115 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $580 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $45 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $380 • Travel and lodging for the family: $80 Thanks for reading all this. - Femi
