Farah was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in August. The surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,150, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $800 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Saint Joseph Hospital since August. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,150 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Farah struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Farah won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $800 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $75
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $350
• Travel and lodging for the family: $50
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $325
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
