Help Elias keep the the Second Helping pantry stocked
The the Second Helping pantry in San Francisco is running low just as demand rises; $3,100 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Wednesday from the back of a community center. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 219 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 39% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the San Francisco market and keep every receipt.
Each $35 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,900
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $480
• Baby formula and diapers: $360
• Refrigeration and electricity: $360
Thanks for reading all this.

Hope this works out for you. Love from Istanbul.
keep going, Elias. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes
Rooting for you, Elias. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 7 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
