Eli was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in November. The oncology team at the Mississauga Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in January. He will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Eli is 49, worked as a taxi driver until November, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Mississauga Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $7,650 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,150
• Scans and lab work: $640
• Transport to the Mississauga Oncology Institute: $1,300
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $500
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,060
