Elena was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in March. The oncology team at Riverside Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in June. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Elena is 38, worked as a hairdresser until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Riverside Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
