Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Tuesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 14 families, and now we feed 386 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 59% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Quezon City market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $300 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $65
• Baby formula and diapers: $35
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $200
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

You're not alone. Great idea, hope you get there. We're a small family in Nairobi but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Quezon City.
thinking of you. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Wish I lived closer to Embakasi so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Quezon City.
take care. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Manchester donated after I showed her your page. Greetings from Manchester.
Your post was clear and honest. Sent it to 39 people at work.
so sorry you're going through this, Elena. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Take care.
