Edilene was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in December. The surgeon at São Paulo Regional Medical Center recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,800, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,900 short.
my mother has been in and out of São Paulo Regional Medical Center since December. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,800 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Edilene struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
