Birmingham
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Thursday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 100 each week. Donations have dropped by about 58% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 18 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Birmingham market and keep every receipt. Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $1,850 goes: • Refrigeration and electricity: $170 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $500 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,180 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Sure. The biggest one is refrigeration and electricity, $170. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks, that means a lot.
