Duangjai is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a law degree at Bang Khen Polytechnic, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $750. The registrar has said Duangjai can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Duangjai has a top-ten-percent average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Duangjai would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
