Devi was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in February. The oncology team at Johannesburg University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in May. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Devi is 24, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until February, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Johannesburg University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,400 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,550 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $150 • Household costs while unable to work: $550 • Scans and lab work: $150 Thanks for reading all this.
