Crystal was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in March. The surgeon at Miami Community Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,750, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,900 short.
my mother has been in and out of Miami Community Hospital since March. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Crystal struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Crystal won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
