Corazon was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in August. The surgeon at Quezon City Orthopedic Institute recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $470, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $350 short.
my mother has been in and out of Quezon City Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $470 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Corazon struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Corazon won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
