The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Recife is running low just as demand rises; $1,000 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Friday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 243 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 56% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Recife market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $330
• Baby formula and diapers: $185
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $485
Every share and every dollar helps.
