Help Citra keep the Community Pantry pantry stocked

The Community Pantry pantry in Bandung is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Saturday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 176 each week. Donations have dropped by about 30% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bandung market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $400 goes: • Refrigeration and electricity: $35 • Baby formula and diapers: $65 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $300 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Updates from Citra

Rooting for you, Citra. Hope you get there. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Aurangabad!

    • You're not alone, Citra. This could happen to any of us. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Take care.

      • I hope things turn around soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Thinking of Bandung.

        • Is there anything that isn't money that would help Citra?

          • Thank you. If you're in Bandung I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Fair thing to want to know.

        • Wishing you peace, Citra. More neighborhoods should do this. After 26 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Citra.

            • The list at the bottom is the whole picture. refrigeration and electricity is the biggest at $35. Let me know if you want more detail.

          • Take care, Citra. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did

            • Stay strong, Citra. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
