The heating account is 2 months behind. Chen received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on August unless $500 is paid. She had never been late before May's medical emergency. Chen called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $120 first, which isn't available. The household includes two young children, and going through the rainy season without heating isn't safe. We can't cook, keep medicine cold or heat the home. Chen is working on getting back on her feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $500 goes: • Gas arrears: $230 • Reconnection and late fees: $55 • Down payment on a payment plan: $215 Glad we found this place. - Dong
