I make my living with my school-run minibus. 10 weeks ago the gearbox failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $1,750. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my family of five. Before the breakdown I worked eleven hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal. Where the $1,750 goes: • gearbox replacement (parts): $1,150 • Labor charges: $260 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $240 • Towing and inspection: $100 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Carter

Updates from Carter

  1. Quick update: $70 raised so far (4%). I made the first payment toward labor charges. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($220 in total) the plan for labor charges is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely. - Carter

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Carter!

Gearbox replacement (parts) is $1,150 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for asking.
