Help Carmen with work-permit appeal filing and attorney fees
A work-permit appeal deadline is approaching and Carmen can't afford the lawyer.
🇲🇽 68030, Oaxaca de Juárez, Oaxaca, Mexico1,075 views
Carmen is facing a work-permit appeal. The hearing is scheduled for October, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $1,000. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Carmen has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at Oaxaca de Juárez Welcome Centre has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Carmen could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $640
• Filing and biometrics fees: $230
• Certified translations and document copies: $45
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $85
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Sending love, Lourdes. It takes guts to ask. Well done. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Oaxaca de Juárez.
Hope things get better soon, Lourdes. I hope things turn around soon. Don't give up. All the best.
Best of luck, Lourdes. Looking forward to the next update. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
Keep going, Lourdes. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double
