Carmen was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in August. The surgeon at Saint Mary Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,750, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $4,700 short.
my mother has been in and out of Saint Mary Hospital since August. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Carmen struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Carmen won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
