Carmen was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in April. The surgeon at Buenos Aires Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,700, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,350 short.
my mother has been in and out of Buenos Aires Orthopedic Institute since April. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,700 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Carmen struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Carmen won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
