Brielle is facing a citizenship application. The hearing is scheduled for August, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $2,150. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline. Brielle has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at the Toronto Community Legal Centre has confirmed that the case is valid. If the deadline is missed Brielle could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know. Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer. Where the $2,150 goes: • Attorney retainer: $1,550 • Filing and biometrics fees: $390 • Certified translations and document copies: $210 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Isabelle

Sending strength, Isabelle. Shared this with my family. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from San Francisco.
