Help Brielle keep the Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry stocked

The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Baton Rouge is running low just as demand rises; $1,600 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Sunday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 277 each week. Donations have dropped by about 35% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Baton Rouge market and keep every receipt. Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $1,600 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $770 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $590 • Baby formula and diapers: $240 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Updates from Brielle

  1. Quick update: $297 raised so far (19%). I made the first payment toward fresh vegetables and fruit. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 4% now ($60). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts.
