Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Thursday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 293 each week. Donations have dropped by about 47% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Pietermaritzburg market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $350 goes: • Baby formula and diapers: $60 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $250 • Refrigeration and electricity: $40 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Updates from Brandon

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($285 in total) I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. We're at 31% thanks to 2 of you. the plan for baby formula and diapers is now scheduled. More news soon.

  • Hang in there, Brandon. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Embakasi donated after I showed her your page. Love from Embakasi.
