Help Bongani through 10 rounds of treatment for prostate cancer
10 rounds of treatment are planned at Pretoria University Hospital; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.
🇿🇦 South Africa76 views
Bongani was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September. The oncology team at Pretoria University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Bongani is 48, worked as a nurse until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Pretoria University Hospital 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,600
• Scans and lab work: $180
• Transport to Pretoria University Hospital: $120
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $140
• Household costs while unable to work: $410
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
