Bolaji was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in May. The surgeon at Lagos University Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,850, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,300 short.
my son has been in and out of Lagos University Hospital since May. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,850 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Bolaji struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Bolaji won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $530
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $610
• Post-operative medication: $45
• Physiotherapy sessions: $115
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
