A neighborhood bakery in Sheffield needs help replacing a commercial oven after a break-in.

Sheffield
For nine years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Sheffield. In April, a break-in took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Monday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $2,400 goes: • Working capital for the first month: $430 • Shop repairs and licensing: $350 • Replacing a commercial oven: $1,620 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Updates from Bennett

  1. Thank you all. We're at 49% now ($1,171). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Small update. $710 so far, I made the first payment toward working capital for the first month.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($600 in total) I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

I hope things turn around soon. After 8 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
