Beatriz was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in July. The surgeon at Pelotas Orthopedic Institute recommended gallbladder removal, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,700 short. my daughter has been in and out of Pelotas Orthopedic Institute since July. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,250 is more than we can find. While we wait, Beatriz struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Beatriz won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
