Babatunde was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in March. The surgeon at Ikeja Orthopedic Institute recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,200, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $900 short. my father has been in and out of Ikeja Orthopedic Institute since March. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,200 is more than we can find. While we wait, Babatunde struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Babatunde won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $900 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $350 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $320 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $60 • Post-operative medication: $55 • Physiotherapy sessions: $80 • Travel and lodging for the family: $35 Thanks for reading all this. - Rotimi
