Atul is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a computer science degree at Mumbai Polytechnic, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $400.
The registrar has said Atul can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Atul has a 3.6 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Atul would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Atul isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Mumbai Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $400 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $50
• Outstanding tuition balance: $340
• Textbooks and materials: $10
