Asif was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in June. The surgeon at Varanasi Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,350, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $800 short.
my father has been in and out of Varanasi Regional Medical Center since June. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,350 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Asif struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Asif won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Asif!
Sure. The biggest one is pre-operative tests and imaging, $75. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Fair thing to want to know.
