Help Aroha keep the the Second Helping pantry stocked

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Thursday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 30 families, and now we feed 220 each week. Donations have dropped by about 55% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Wellington market and keep every receipt. Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $3,150 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,900 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $750 • Baby formula and diapers: $220 • Refrigeration and electricity: $280 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,658 in total) the plan for fresh vegetables and fruit is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Quick update: $1,076 raised so far (34%). the first invoice got paid this week. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

      The list at the bottom is the whole picture. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is the biggest at $1,900. It helps to be asked.
