Amaka was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in October. The surgeon at Bonny Community Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for January. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,200, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,100 short.
my wife has been in and out of Bonny Community Hospital since October. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,200 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Amaka struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Amaka won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
