Álvaro was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Bogotá Regional Medical Center recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,750, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,400 short.
my son has been in and out of Bogotá Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Álvaro struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Álvaro won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
