Help Almaz keep the the Second Helping pantry stocked
The the Second Helping pantry in Adama is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 17 families, and now we feed 309 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Adama market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $450 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $230
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $140
• Baby formula and diapers: $25
• Refrigeration and electricity: $55

Small update. $85 so far, the first invoice got paid this week.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($30 in total) I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
