Alice was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in August. The surgeon at Naples University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,200, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $2,100 short.
my wife has been in and out of Naples University Hospital since August. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,200 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Alice struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Alice won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
