Ciudad de México
Alejandro was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in May. The surgeon at Ciudad de México General Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,900, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $2,300 short. my son has been in and out of Ciudad de México General Hospital since May. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,900 is more than we can find. While we wait, Alejandro struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Alejandro won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,300 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,200 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $650 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $190 • Post-operative medication: $70 • Physiotherapy sessions: $120 • Travel and lodging for the family: $70 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
