Akosua was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in May. The surgeon at Madina Community Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,450, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,100 short. my wife has been in and out of Madina Community Hospital since May. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,450 is more than we can find. While we wait, Akosua struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Akosua won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,100 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $350 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $510 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $45 • Post-operative medication: $65 • Physiotherapy sessions: $55 • Travel and lodging for the family: $75 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Michael
