Akello was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in August. The surgeon at Kikuyu Orthopedic Institute recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,700, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,200 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Kikuyu Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,700 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Akello struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Akello won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
