Help Akash keep the Neighbors' Pantry pantry stocked
The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Kolkata is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Monday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 19 families, and now we feed 146 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 54% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kolkata market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $450 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $145
• Baby formula and diapers: $35
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $270

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Akash.
Fresh vegetables and fruit is $145 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. It helps to be asked.
