Heatwave in Lucknow: help the Northside district rebuild
After the heatwave, families in the Northside district need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇮🇳 India710 views
The heatwave hit the Northside district on 27 August. My home was one of 50 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $460
• Clean water and purification supplies: $160
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $110
• Food parcels for displaced families: $145
• Tools and labor for repairs: $125
I hope life is good to you.

Hang in there. Hope you get there. Thinking of Lucknow.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Emon.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. roofing sheets and timber comes first ($460) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for looking so closely.
sending good thoughts, Emon. This could happen to any of us.
Hope things get better soon. More neighborhoods should do this. Wish I lived closer to Cluj-Napoca so I could bring a meal. Take care.
shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
Stay strong, Emon. Hope you get there. Sent it to 12 people at work. Blessings.
Sending love, Emon. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Laval.
