Heather was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in December. The oncology team at Cleveland University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in April. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Heather is 39, worked as a bus conductor until December, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Cleveland University Hospital 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $10,650 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,250 • Scans and lab work: $780 • Transport to Cleveland University Hospital: $680 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $460 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,480 If you're reading this, thank you. - Dustin

  • What's already covered and what's the $10,650 for?

    • It's all in the list in the story. chemotherapy and medication not covered is the big one at $7,250, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Good question.
