Hauwa was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Asaba Orthopedic Institute recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $500, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $400 short.
my mother has been in and out of Asaba Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Hauwa struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Hauwa won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
