Harsh was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in October. The surgeon at Nashik Orthopedic Institute recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,550, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,100 short. my brother has been in and out of Nashik Orthopedic Institute since October. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,550 is more than we can find. While we wait, Harsh struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Harsh won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,100 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $380 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $500 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $65 • Post-operative medication: $30 • Physiotherapy sessions: $50 • Travel and lodging for the family: $75 With deep gratitude, Darshan

Thanks for sharing this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Nashik.

    • You're not alone, Darshan. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 19 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless
