Harmony Primary School needs a community fridge - Themba's neighborhood project
A community-led a community fridge at Harmony Primary School that will serve 206 neighbors.
🇿🇦 Gauteng, South Africa481 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 206 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $800 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $90
• Materials: $610
• Permits and inspections: $100
Every share and every dollar helps.

Small update. $150 so far, I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.
Thank you all. We're at 6% now ($49). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. - Themba
