Hans was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in April. The surgeon at Cologne General Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $3,500 short.
my father has been in and out of Cologne General Hospital since April. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Hans struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Hans won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
