Hanna was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in February. The surgeon at Bahir Dar Orthopedic Institute recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,700, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,005 short.
my wife has been in and out of Bahir Dar Orthopedic Institute since February. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,700 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Hanna struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Hanna won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
