I'm caring for me, who's 92. After a diagnosis of dementia Hạnh can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Hạnh desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Hạnh worked all of her life as a seamstress, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $780
• Medication and prescriptions: $110
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $60
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $50
